Love has no boundaries.
Once you fall in love, you would do anything for love.

This is what Eiri, the main protagonist, experienced in this ova series. He fell in love with Cossette, a spirit who had been dead for centuries. Because of this love, he would do anything for her, even willing to sacrifice his life in order to free her from her curse.

Romantic, right?

In this series, uuuhhhhh not really. It’s full blown creepy. Didn’t I mentioned Cossette is a spirit from a wine glass? Not only that, Cossette is also really really young (yeah bruh, she is a loli), while Eiri is hhhmmm… early 20’s or late teens. That’s straight up pedophilia. Lol. Well, this is anime, anything can happen. Hahahaha.

Jokes aside, this anime was a surprise. A shocker, to be exact. I didn’t expect that it would be that dark. I actually got mindf*cked for a minute or two at the 2nd half of the first episode. Lol. I was having a hard time processing what the hell is going on, I actually rewatched the scenes again. The shock value of this series was unbelievably on point, it made my jaw to drop a couple of times and speechless. It played the genre of horror + pyschological really well. Along with a mix of supernatural and drama, this series blew me away. Definitely not for kids.

For a short anime series, so many things happened. The depth of the story and how it progressed throughout the series was really well directed. Well, its an Akiyuki Shinbo’s work after all, its no doubt a really good series. Not only that, the art style and music composition were well-balanced, it fitted well to the story. The series used dark and pale colors to represent the tone and mood of the series. The animation may look outdated, its still watchable and can keep up with the modern ones. Well, this series was released last 2004, it can’t be helped. The music is so good. It added more flavor and suspense to some important scenes.

Each supporting character were memorable. There wasn’t much depth to their characters, other than the fact that they seem to like and care for Eiri. They do know there boundaries and not hover around him.

The main characters though.

I find Eiri bland at the beginning. He doesn’t stand out much and I can’t grasp properly his real personality. He seems to be close to alot of girls, and all of them likes him in some ways (ooohohohoho a harem in the making!?!?). As the story progresses, and he gets more involved with Cossette, thats were I find him more alive and interesting. The crap he went through, all for Cossette was really admirable and stupid at the same time. Well, he is in love after all.

Cossette, on the other hand, is by far the best character in this series. She dresses like a gothic lolita, which fits her really well. From her visuals to her personality, she was really appealing and very attractive. For a young person, she was very seductive and mature. You’lll definitely understand why Eiri fell for her.

The romance between between the two was really dysfunctional and creepy, at best. At least it wasn’t one-sided. Even though Eiri was first to fall in love, Cossette learns to love and care for Eiri after seeing his efforts. It was heartbreaking to see the both of them suffer cause of the curse.

Overall, watching this OVA series was an enjoyable rollercoaster experience. Its a really really good anime. I highly recommend this series. Anyone can watch this. It’s very short, only 3 episodes, so this is no biggie.

I do recommend this to peepz who likes dark romance, romance + horror, romance + psychological type of animes.

Thank you for reading.

That is all.
